The series consists of a run of annual reports issued by the Northwestern University Medical School, later the Feinberg School of Medicine. The reports are arranged chronologically in fifteen boxes and span the period from 1971/1972 through 2005/2006. There are several gaps in this run and reports from the following years are not included in the series: 1988/1989, 1989/1990, 1992/1993, 1993/1994, 1994/1995, 1996/1997, 1997/1998, 1998/1999, and 1999/2000. Individual reports cover academic rather than calendar years.

The Northwestern University Medical School began as the medical department of Lind University (later Lake Forest University) in 1859, located at Randolph and Market Streets in Chicago.
